THE ROOTS
South Hill Auto Wrecking
My great-grandfather ran an auto wrecking business called South Hill Auto Wrecking. His hard work set our family up for a better life. The name still lives on today: it’s what our used parts store runs under.
THE LESSON
Steering cars onto a flat deck
When I was a kid, my step-dad handed out business cards everywhere he went. He’d leave them on cars, knock on doors, and make an offer. Then he’d come back with his 1980 Chevy G20 and a 25-foot tandem-axle flat deck. My little sister waited in the van, and I steered each car while he winched it onto the trailer with a come-along.
THE START (2020)
Laid off, 500 cards, and a gold Mercedes
In 2020 I got laid off from my job running an excavator. So I did what my step-dad did. I printed 500 business cards in Vancouver and left them on cars that looked abandoned. My first call was a 1999 C230 Kompressor covered in moss. Under the moss was perfect gold paint.
THE GROWTH
One U-Haul, two cars a day
More calls came in. I rented a truck and trailer, lined up two pickups on the same day, and hauled them one after the other. Then I got storage space and started parting cars out instead of just scrapping them.

Same phone, same promise
